Created to contribute to the 5 Days for The Homeless initiative, The Fortune Project is a research/process based project thats intent is to break down the us/ them barrier with people living on the streets. How can we facilitate positive interaction through the act of giving? Thoughts, opinions and philosophies were collected from homeless individuals across Montreal, and disseminated through homemade fortune cookies as an attempt to share their experiences and knowledge with a larger public, who is then encouraged to write a message of good fortune back (which is then put into the next batch of fortune cookies) in order to continue the cycle. The pouch was created to serve as a place to collect change to donate, facilitating the power of the act of giving. Lastly the publication was made to share these philosophies, and the project as a whole. At the end of the book it had out recipe for the fortune cookies, along with some fortunes and blank ones so the reader could continue this cycle of sharing/giving.
